Intricate two-level premises, dating from the 16th century. Has a cosy lower bar with a log-burner in winter, where up to five real ales can be found, including beers from local or regional microbreweries.
Beer festivals are held at Easter and in late summer, and the pub has its own taxi, and plenty of outdoor seating, some covered, to the rear of the car park.
20 minutes' walk from Coltishall Halt station, on the Bure Valley Line, and a short walk from Coltishall Common on the River Bure.
